The AKC’S newest event!
Rally-O is a type of competition where the dog and handler team follow a course laid out with numbered stations. At each station there is a sign with a maneuver on it. The team is scored on their execution of that excercise. Scoring starts with 100 points, for each mistake made by the human, or the dog, points are deducted. The runs are timed, so highest score, with the fastest time wins! In order to earn a a title you must earn a minimum of 70 points on 3 different trials.
It is mentally stimulating, and it is mild exercise for both you and your dog. Fun and interesting skills to know, even if you never go into competition.
Dogs learn the maneuvers in the Saturday 2:00 class, then on Thursdays we set up the course and do individual runs.
